Damon Motors has been honored as the recipient of a special Green edition of the GOOD DESIGN Award program for 2021. The company was awarded in the Green Transportation category for its flagship Hypersport superbike, one of the world’s leading speedbikes that are also all electric. That’s on top of it being innovative in technology, fully connected, and with improved riding safety powered by AI. Damon was selected from hundreds of entries from over 35 countries across the globe. Founded in Chicago in 1950, GOOD DESIGN remains the oldest and most established awards program for the most innovative and visionary new product design worldwide.

Based in Vancouver, Canada, Damon was founded by entrepreneurs Jay Giraud and Dom Kwong. The company offers a selection of 4 models. With the limited HyperSport Premier Edition, which carries all of the best features like Brembo breaks, Öhlins suspension, a single sided Swing-arm and of course the largest battery packs of all models, with 20kWh.

With that, all of the HyperSport motorcycles will use a 160kW (peak) motor, with their main differences being the HP output. The Damon SX gets 150 HP, compare to 200 HP on the HS, and 100 HP on the SE model. The battery is another variation that allows the price range to drop significantly. The SX comes with a 15kWh, or an even more compact 11kWh for the SE model. The HS and Premier models both have a 20kWh pack, which is not only large, but charges back very fast.

“With hundreds of millions of motorcycles on the road around the world, motorcycling is one of the largest contributors to greenhouse gasses,”

“Damon Motors is committed to a creating a sustainable path forward for motorcycling with our 100 percent electric, zero emissions motorcycles. We are honored to receive this Green GOOD DESIGN award for our ongoing efforts.

Jay Giraud, founder & CEO, Damon Motors.

Green GOOD DESIGN, puts an emphasis on “the world’s most important examples of sustainable design” and awards the companies that are innovating with design that is sustainable and within highest standards for “good environment.”

The Green GOOD DESIGN award was created by the European Centre for Architecture Art Design and Urban Studies and The Chicago Athenaeum: Museum of Architecture and Design. The jury for the awards were members of The European Center’s International Advisory Committee—worldwide leaders in the design industry—which selected over 200 new products, programs, people, environmental planning, and architecture as outstanding examples of Green Design from 28 countries worldwide.

“This program dramatically indicates that the Green Movement is in full momentum worldwide—from London to Beijing to Mexico City,”

“Architects and designers are quickly developing more and more interesting solutions to meet a more sustainable future.”

Christian K. Narkiewicz-Laine, Museum President & CEO, The Chicago Athenaeum.

The Damon HyperSport was created to make motorcycling safer while also accelerating a clean energy future. This electric superbike is outfitted with highly advanced technology incorporating sensor fusion, mechatronics and AI with electric energy.

Damon aims to deliver the safest and cleanest premium, high-technology motorcycles on the market. And continues to push towards its goal, after achieving a $30M funding round needed for their expansion, we are highly anticipating to hear and see more news from the company.
