KTM SX-E 5 – 2021 – Electric Motorcycle Review

The offroad KTM SX-E 5 – full specification breakdown

KTM SX-E is a great off road in it’s category. It comes in direct competition with the like of Husqvarna, the Sur-Ron Storm MX, and others. Coming along with recent big moves by KTM that now offers a riders ‘learning curb’ with models like a self-balance electric bike for children, a youth motocross and the top level of off road driving – with the SX-E.

It has stuck to many of the company’s traditional features and colors, with great suspensions, breaks, frame and of course an attention to details in their design. They did all of that without making this model feel like a forced design, and they have paid tribute to technology options and innovative options for riders with the all electric model.

The KTM has a permanent magnet, air-cooled motor. It looks very compact and slim, a size that sits great with smaller chassis. It produces a peak power of 5 kW that comes just under 1kWh, torque stands @13.8 Nm from 0 rpm – and that is powered by a 48V 21Ah battery pack.

It’s motor is designed to be dust and waterproof which should reduce motor wear and make it practically maintenance free. It features a controllable power delivery using an integrated control unit (ECU) and using the Multi functional Display, there are six different ride modes for the rider to select. All the way from beginner at level one, to experienced riders at their level 6 control. In addition this mode selection has a safety control under the seat, to ensure younger riders cannot change modes on their own.
