Tarform is a Brooklyn based company, that brings innovative material use and great specifications to deliver a one-of-its-kind motorcycle.
The Tarform Luna is the result of tech-innovation, combined with material and industrial design at the highest levels. The Luna uses bio-degradable materials across the motorcycle, for an Eco-friendly result not only with emission but also with recycling material. It lacks nothing in specification too, with a powerful 55HP motor, belt driven, and 120 miles range.
Tarform is led by Taras Kravtchouk, a designer, entrepreneur and advisor based in New York. He set out to create a motorcycle that not only will have zero emission, but will also use natural materials that can reduce the ecological footprint. It was first presented in 2018, and after some delays it is now available for pre-order with a $500 deposit and expected to start deliveries in 2021.
The full price will be $24,000, and there are very impressive specifications that come along with that price. The Luna uses a PMAC air cooled motor, belt drive.The motor packs 41kW, which is 55HP, pushing a great top speed of 95 mph (152 km/h). A battery pack of 10kWh, carries the motorcycle to a range of 120miles (192 km) and it can get a 0-60 speed of 3.8 seconds. All stats as presented on Tarform website.
Now one of the more innovative parts of the design, is the material used, like flax seed weave as a reinforcing mechanism to the composite panel construction. Paint and primers that will be replaced with algae- and iron based metallic pigments, and maximal use of bio-degradable material.
The Luna is offered with two selections, Scrambler Edition or Racer Edition. Some of the best part selections were made, with inverted fork front suspension and single coilover shock rear, both with possible Öhlins upgrade. Rims come with either cast aluminum or spokes, and it breaks with 6-piston calipers, ISR single floating disc.
The design result is beautiful, giving a clean and slick line to the bike. From headlight to seat position and turn signals, it stands out from the crowd and captures the eye. Designed for easily being upgraded with parts in the future, the engineers and designers set out to provide an ecological electric motorcycle and so they did.
