EXM XF30

EMX Powertrain announces the release of its electric MX bike: the XF30. 100 units of the XF30’s, from the first limited series, are now available to be pre-ordered.

After two years of development and rigorous testing, EMX Powertrain are announcing the release of the XF30 electric dirt bike. Now available for preorders, the XF30 has been designed for a pure riding experience, and meticulously tested on dirt and heavy sand tracks.

We have previously covered the track testing done by EMX on dirt and on heavy sand tracks, and now the XF30 is finally open for preorders.

With the look and feel of proven motocross engineering standards and the thrill of electric power and full torque at the twist of the throttle.

“We started drawing up the bike from a blank canvas, developed an electric powertrain, and built a motocross bike showcasing incredible balance and performance.”

XF30 Specifications

The XF30 initials were taken from the motocross bike (X) in combination with freedom (F) of clean technology. The platform in which the 30 kW electric powertrain is fitted has a proven track record.

The aluminum double beam frame is equipped with KYB suspension, so an experienced motocross rider will be familiar with the feel of the bike. Designed with advanced cooling technology, the electric motor and battery provide high power at all times, while requiring little maintenance, so you can stay on riding as long as possible.

The XF30 was meticulously tested and optimized to offers a composed combination of balance and performance. The bikes full weight, battery included, is only 253lbs (115kg).

The XF30 outputs 40 bhp, 720 Nm (at the rear wheel), and runs on a 4.5kWh battery. The bike is equipped with a mapping switch to make sure you have the perfect characteristics for your ride, from enduro trail, to a motocross track race, or if you just want to ride around, this dirt ripping machine can do it all.

The battery will carry an endurance ride of about 2 hours and will charge back up in 1.5 hours. Utilizing Nissin brakes, hydraulic disc front and rear, 270mm and 240mm respectively with foot operated rear brake, and left hand level for the front.

“We’re extremely proud to finally show the XF30. I want to thank everyone within EMX Powertrain who worked extremely hard to get where we are. We started drawing up the bike from a blank canvas, developed an electric powertrain, and built a motocross bike showcasing incredible balance and performance. We believe this first limited series will appeal to many early adopters and marks our first step in contributing to the future of the sport. I also would like to point out that the XF30 is the first commercial application of our EMX high-performance powertrain, to be followed by many more, starting with our street-legal bike in 2024.”

  1. isn’t 18750 euros about 20k in us dollars? that seems insanely expensive compared to all the other bikes coming out, even the stark, which seems high priced is still around 12k. Also i saw no mention of yamaha. It was my understanding that emx was in conjunction with yamaha on this build, now they are stating that all the parts are handmade, did yamaha drop this partnership to work on their own project?

    1. You are correct. The price in Euro would convert to roughly 19,750 USD.
We humbly report it, and try our best to let you compare it… https://tinyurl.com/4my7bywf
As for the Yamaha part – we were similarly interested to understand this point, as we know Yamaha Europe was a part of the project development and should be involved in some way. We already reached out to EMX to get you details!
Keep an eye out for more details.

      1. Official answers from EMX powertrain:
The Yamaha partnership involves Yamaha as a supplier of chassis parts to EMX Powertrain. EMX is its own entity and not a part of the Yamaha brand.
“EMX Powertrain is responsible for designing, engineering, and building the EMX XF30, including the implementation of parts from suppliers, such as Yamaha.”
As for your question on Price – it is currently depending on many parameters like supply chain, input material prices etc, while the first 100 units are offered at 19,750 (USD from Euro) – it remains to be seen whether this price may change with time as global supply situation may change.
Hope this sheds some light on your questions 🙂
