Freerider was first launched as an all off road version, then came the street legal Freerider, fully equipped for the road regulations. The simplicity in Kuberg’s designs is one of the reasons they are able to provide great products time after time. The Freerider looks stripped of unnecessary load, and has a simple frame, battery, motor and controller. It carries a 4,8 or 12kw motor, and a battery of 22A 48V that’s right over 1kWh. The Kuberg Freerider is fitted with their special made Kuberg BLDC PRO motor and a clutchless one speed drive powered by their own proprietary controller.
There are a low of missing numbers for us, as far as hp goes, ranges and more. So we did some of the math and got rough estimates. Here comes some math and physics for you: HP on the 4kw motor, will be right about 5.5hp, with this battery that could make a range of about 40 miles, or 50km on the smallest motor. That’s with our estimate of 70kg rider 1.80m tall (for resistance calculation) and an average speed of 45kmh. Now, we still noted that the 12kw motor would more rapidly eat up battery and will only last a range of about 16 miles, or 25km. Having done that, we double checked the numbers against a quick review search of riders that tested it, and confirmed the range of the 12kw motor would be about 16 miles. The joy of physics.
The Freerider comes with a good price tag, of $4,999 to $5,999. Making it an affordable dirt bike, competitive within its bracket. It does have it’s uniqueness and it stands out with the performance it gives on trails and when facing obstacles, which quite deserving puts it as a favorite brand in US and Europe. A brand that made the name for itself with excellent product and service.
