KTM, Husqvarna, GasGas will contribute the all electric motorcycles for a brand new FIM Europe Junior E-Motocross Series.

The FIM Europe, together with KTM and Infront Moto Racing, announce a new partnership forming the FIM Europe Junior e-Motocross Championship, a brand new all electric series for young riders that will run over the next two years.

The all-new electric European racing series creates an opportunity for young racers to develop their talents. Competing on the same circuits as their MXGP heroes. The racing format mimics the FIM Motocross World Championship, with up to 40 competitors that will contend in two motos at each round with the series.

The entire new series will be held alongside other FIM Motocross World Championship events, with the new category introducing a fresh generation of riders onboard electrically powered machines.

The FIM (FÉDÉRATION INTERNATIONALE DE MOTOCYCLISME), held competitions for electric motorcycles racing as early as 2010 with the FIM E-Power International Championship. That race was the predecessor of the current MotoE series.

Just a few days ago, FIM also announced “E-Xplorer” all electric off road moto series, which is planned to start in 2022. racing for all electric off road 2-wheelers. The E-Xplorer, will allow 10 teams to take part in the race motorcycles propelled by a single 100% electric motor with a max weight of 130kg.

The FIM Europe Junior e-Motocross Championship will allow participation for riders aged 6-8 years old, and run as a five-round series, which will begin in Mantova, Italy in September together with the 2021 Monster Energy FIM Motocross of Nations.

The on-track sessions for the new class will feature a free and timed practice, followed by two races on an adapted version of each Grand Prix track.

Apart from the satisfaction in winning, the winner of the 2021 FIM Europe Junior e-Motocross Championship series will also win an exclusive prize and receive a three-day opportunity with a factory race team to train and experience the racing backstage first hand with world championship level athletes.

The electric motorcycles in the series will be provided by KTM, Husqvarna and GasGas – all carrying a BLDC 5kW peak power electric motor, nominal 2kW power. A 48V 21Ah battery which is right about 1kWh.

These models are all well equipped with disc brakes front and rear, great suspension and motocross ready setups. Suspensions by XACT, front Upside-Down fork 35 Ø 35 mm and rear WP mono shock, 665mm seat height and they only weight around 41 kilograms.

KTM, Husqvarna and GasGas are all companies under Pierer Mobility (holdings company), which also sells e-bikes under the Raymon brand. The three companies offer similar off road electric motorcycles, the KTM SX-E5, Husqvarna EE-5 and the GasGas MC-E 5.

As the announcement came out from FIM, the corresponding announcements were made on each of the companies official channels, giving great tailwind to the brands as they solidify their position as leaders in electric mobility.

Pierer Mobility has proven to take a great stake into electric mobility – particularly over the last year as the company scaled into more powerful and higher performance models like the E-pilen and city commuters like the Vektorr electric scooter. We just can wait to see some more powerful models coming our from all of these brands.
