Zero Motorcycles Launch The New Zero FXE

The Zero FXE is launched, a new body style built on the FX platform.

Zero Motorcycles continue to strengthen their model offering with the launch of the brand new Zero FXE. Built and aimed at the entry level rider, the FXE is a new body style twist on the FX electric motorcycle.

To create the new design, Zero collaborated with the San Francisco-based design firm, HUGE Design, on what was initially a concept vehicle. The FXE emphasizes ergonomic touchpoints and rider UI/UX, and took on an industrial futuristic style, with the obvious similarity to the FX.

When we partnered with award-winning design firm, Huge Design, they intended to craft the motorcycle of the future. The future has officially arrived. The FXE is both breathtaking in its profile as it is record-breaking in its performance. Such a combination of style and technology creates an experience that has never been seen in motorcycling, and only could have come from the worldwide leader in electric motorcycles and powertrains. The future has arrived.

The FXE runs on a passive air-cooled IPM motor, pushing 46 hp (34 kW) @ 4,300 rpm. That’s the equivalent of 106 Nm (78 ft-lb) of torque. The top speed goes all the way up to 85 mph (137 km/h) and sustain at 75mph (121 km/h).

Powering the FXE is a 7.2 kWh battery pack that gets up to 100 miles (160km) of city riding. Even when pushing to highway speeds, combined range of 57 miles (92 km) at 70 mph is impressive. And as suitable for Zero motorcycles, the specification from brake to tire are all great.

Similar to the platform on which it was built, the new Zero has Bosch Gen9 ABS brakes with J-Juan floating calipers, dual front and single rear. Showa inverted cartridge forks, Showa 40 mm piston shock rear, and Pirelli Diablo Rosso II tires.

“Being the brand that defined the category means that Zero has an obligation to continue driving innovation in electric powersports forward,”

“Our position of leadership also comes with the responsibility to elevate the form and function of the modern motorcycle and ignite riders’ passions in a whole new way. The FXE delivers on the design, technology and ride experience characteristics one expects from the motorcycle of the future.”

Sam Paschel, Zero Motorcycles CEO

The FXE also boasts custom LED head and tail lights and has a 5.0” TFT display. The FXE connects to the Cypher II Operating System by Zero, which is capable of several interesting changes to the riding experience of the motorcycle. Connecting to the The Zero Motorcycles App, the Cypher II OS can also be controlled from the app to change the bikes settings.

The app allows for customization of torque, top speed and other performance characteristics via the on-board ride modes, battery management characteristics, Long-Term-Storage Mode, and more.

The FXE is one of the most affordable models in the entire Zero Product Line. Retailing for $11,795 while the FX retails for $11,595.

Zero Motorcycles is releasing the FXE in conjunction with a 20-stop nationwide demo tour in partnership with the Progressive International Motorcycle Show Outdoors (IMSO). Starting July 16th, at Sonoma Raceway in California, the company will be delivering a fleet of motorcycles, including the FXE and the company’s flagship SR/S and SR/F models, to cities across the United States.
