Yamaha Launches EMF Electric Scooter in Taiwan, Utilizing Gogoro’s Swappable Battery System.

The Yamaha EMF will launch in Taiwan this March, based on a collaboration with Gogoro on their battery swapping systems.

Yamaha Motor has announced that it will launch the Yamaha EMF in Taiwan within a couple of months (March 2022) as the second electric scooter it will release using Gogoro’s swappable battery system.

Yamaha Motor designed the EC-05 for Taiwan in 2019 based on the platform of a Gogoro production model. Yamaha Motor R&D Taiwan designed the EMF’s chassis based on Gogoro Design Kit, and Yamaha Motor Taiwan will manufacture and market the model in Taiwan.

Additionally, the EMF’s unique styling sets it apart from other two-wheeled electric scooters, and its smaller wheels provide excellent acceleration. All of these factors combine to make it a model that is fun and friendly.

The EMF will be able to use the many GoStation® battery-swapping stations installed throughout Taiwan by Gogoro Energy Network.

As we reported during July of last year, Yamaha Motor Group reviewed its Environmental Plan 2050 originally formulated in 2018 and set a new goal of becoming carbon neutral across all of its business activities, as well as throughout the life cycle of its products, by 2050. Scope 3 of the plan is intended to reduce CO2 emissions from the use of sold products by 90% by 2050 compared to 2010.

The EMF is one of the first in a line of strategic electric vehicles that will be introduced to the market in order to help the company achieve this goal.
