Zero does it again with more exciting announcements. This new cooperation with Michael ‘Woolie’ Woolaway is for a custom made special design SR/S by Deus Ex Machina.
Zero has just recently had an announcement coming out from Polaris in regards to their cooperation, and seems that news breaks in earlier than expected. Zero has released (a few hours ago, as these pages are written) a video portraying the making of this custom model, and revealing more about the design process.
Some of the super cool and interesting changes in this design, are ideas and thoughts that came from Woolaway and set the tone for this customization. The design has lost it’s foot break, which was replaced with a custom thumb break – quite the unique feature for an electric motorcycle. The wind shield is quite stunning and old school, hand blown by an artist. The ‘high voltage’ symbol where the normal gas tank would sit compliments this design, and to finish off with a flying touch, it has wings. Actual side wings that were cut up from a formula one car woolaway.
“…the zero bike build is the first electric motorcycle I’ve ever been involved with its the perfect platform to build something with because there’s no gas tank really everything else comes off and there’s nothing there so it’s a blank sheet of paper…” says Michael Woolaway. He continues “… I wanted to do something kind of old and new. I started out with…a really old shape and then as I came back I kind of transformed it into something fairly modern. the way I built the bike was just by hand i didn’t have any drawings no computer work nothing like that, just foam plastic shaping tools and measuring tools and transfer tools and kind of the old school way you know i did it really the way that it would have been done in the 30s or 40s”
This is an awesome design of a really great bike, and we love it. Check out the full video here.
