Indian electric scooter company Ather Energy debuts updated 450X model with extended warranty options and upgrade plans
Ather Energy has unveiled its latest electric scooter, the 2023 Ather 450X, with new color options and software updates. Priced at Rs. 1,60,205 ($2,142.89) (ex-showroom, Delhi) for the Ather 450X and Rs. 1,37,195 ($1,881.28) for the 450 Plus.
The 2023 Ather 450X is now available in 4 new colors: Cosmic Black, Lunar Grey, Salt Green, and Ravishing Red. The e-scooter also features a redesigned seat, which is narrower in the front, flatter in the middle, and steeper at the back.
Ather claims that the changes make it more suitable for a wider range of riders. Additionally, the e-scooter includes a new ‘frunk’ – a 14-liter storage compartment at the front, which houses an additional compartment for mobile phones.
The newly introduced Atherstack 5.0 software update brings a host of new features to the e-scooter. The 450X now includes an Auto Hold function, which prevents it from rolling back on an incline. The touchscreen instrument console comes with a new user interface and Vector Maps offering live traffic overlay and a navigation view showing the rider’s perspective.
The 2023 Ather 450X boasts impressive technical specifications as well. It has a Certified Range of 146 km and a True-Range of 105 km, allowing riders to travel long distances on a single charge. The top speed of the e-scooter is 90 km/h and it can accelerate from 0-40 km/h in just 3.3 seconds.
The motor is a Permanent Magnet Synchronous Motor (PMSM) with a continuous power output of 3.3 kW and a torque of 26 Nm. It features a belt drive and is powered by a Lithium-ion battery with a capacity of 3.7 kWh.
Ather Energy also announced upgrade plans and extended warranty options for customers. Owners of the Gen 1 scooters that are over 3 years old can buy a new 450X for Rs. 90,000 ($1,195.89) and those with scooters less than 3 years old will be charged Rs. 80,000 ($1,076.32
