Swedish Electric Motorcycle Manufacturer Collaborates with Automotive Solutions, Italika and Citio, and Shanghai Forever to Promote Sustainable Transportation Globally

CAKE, the Swedish manufacturer of premium lightweight electric motorcycles, has partnered with three different companies in three different regions to promote sustainable transportation and accelerate the transition towards a zero-emission society.

In Greece and Cyprus, CAKE has partnered with Automotive Solutions, a provider of full-service solutions that facilitate fleet electrification, to distribute 1,500 utility motorcycles. In Mexico, CAKE has partnered with Italika and Citio, with Italika becoming the official distributor of CAKE electric motorcycles in Mexico. The partnership includes the manufacturing and assembly capacity of Italika and Citio, serving the complete North American demand, and involves substantial sales and distribution of 50,000 units. In China, CAKE has announced a strategic partnership with Shanghai Forever, a leading Chinese bike manufacturer and distributor, to manufacture and sell 150,000 units of electric motorcycles over the next four years.

CAKE partners with Automotive Solutions, the leading provider of electric vehicles for business demands in Greece:

Automotive Solutions is a provider of full-service solutions that facilitates fleet electrification and enables companies to achieve their clean shipping goals. The new partnership between CAKE and Automotive Solutions involves an order of 1,500 utility motorcycles that will be distributed throughout Greece and Cyprus starting in Q2 of 2023.

Stefan Ytterborn, founder and CEO of CAKE, expresses his excitement about the company’s accelerating distribution model. “We are excited that our distribution model is accelerating and that we can continue to support corporations on their transition towards a zero-emission society and convince others to start their journey,” says Ytterborn. He adds, “The early adopters are already considering or riding electric. Now the real challenge begins with getting the rest of the global population on electric solutions to accelerate global development.” The founder and CEO emphasizes the importance of transitioning towards electric vehicles to promote sustainable transportation and a zero-emission society.

Ytterborn believes that the shift towards sustainability is rapidly accelerating, with lawmaking and regulations requiring companies to have a fossil-free solution within the next 24 months. “A year ago I would have said that our commercial customers were sustainability-oriented last mile delivery companies. Today I would say that unless any company in that sector has a fossil-free solution within the next 24 months, they will be out of business,” he explains. The CEO highlights the significance of the partnership in Greece as tangible evidence of the transition towards sustainable transportation at an ultra-fast pace.

Stavros Kafounis, CEO of Automotive Solutions, shares his excitement for the partnership with CAKE. “We are thrilled to partner with CAKE to bring their high-quality electric motorcycles to our unique customers,” says Kafounis. “We believe that CAKE is leading the way in sustainable transportation and provides a solution to inspire our country to start their electric life.” Kafounis highlights the importance of sustainable transportation and acknowledges CAKE’s efforts towards promoting electric solutions.

Additionally, CAKE has partnered with Mexican mobility leader Italika and Citio for electric two-wheel transition and acceleration in Mexico. The collaboration aims to promote fossil-free-driven vehicles in Mexico with CAKE as their main offering. Under the partnership, Italika, which owns the majority of the domestic motorcycle market, will become the official distributor of CAKE electric motorcycles in Mexico, while also manufacturing and selling CAKE products in the coming years. The partnership includes the manufacturing and assembly capacity of Italika and Citio, serving the complete North American demand. The deal involves substantial sales and distribution of 50,000 units.

Alberto Tanus Schwarz, CEO of Italika, praised CAKE’s groundbreaking product design and expressed eagerness to jump onboard and add value through their vast motorcycle assembly experience. Servando Canales, Founder and CEO of Citio, emphasized that democratizing a high-quality electric mobility solution has always been a priority, and this partnership embodies everything they aim to offer through their products and services.

The partnership will commence immediately, with products shipped, and CAKE marketing and product representatives establishing an office at the Italika headquarters in Mexico City. CAKE is currently expanding its distribution network with premium partners in several regions, including Europe, Asia, the Middle East, Australia, South America, and Africa, replacing ICE vehicles with electric on the streets.

Citio, a Mexican company, is also involved in the partnership. It offers the first battery swapping network in the country, delivering the true benefits of electric mobility to its customers. Italika, on the other hand, is a Mexican motorcycle brand that assembles and commercializes motorcycles in Mexico and LATAM. It has sold over six million bikes and has over 3,500 points of sale and 1,000 service centers. Italika’s wide catalog of products, including electric motorcycles, represents the company’s commitment to fulfilling its client’s needs.
