Italian manufacturer Malaguti unveils prototype of lightweight, off-road electric dubbed XAM, targeting young riders.

The Malaguti XAM is a new electric concept bike that blurs the lines between a traditional bike and a motorcycle. The prototype, which weighs less than 70 kg, is designed for young riders and is the brand’s first electric off-road model.

The electric motorcycle space is currently experiencing a significant growth in market interest and competition. An increasing number of manufacturers are looking to enter the space, many with a focus on light vehicles. As a result, the number of models and brands available in the market is rapidly expanding. This trend did not skip Malaguti as the demand for electric vehicles continues to grow, and the company reveal their concept XAM off-road electric.

Malaguti is a well-established Italian brand in the motorsports industry, known for their high-quality scooters and motorcycles. Founded in 1930, the company has a rich history of innovation and design, from bicycle to scooters and motorcycles with decades of experiance.

Over the years, Malaguti has developed a strong reputation for producing reliable and stylish vehicles. With the recent unveiling of their new concept bike, the XAM, the company continues to demonstrate its commitment to staying ahead of the curve and offering cutting-edge technology to its customers.

At the presentation of its 2023 lineup, Malaguti unveiled the XAM concept alongside the previously announced Madison 125 scooter and the recently released Drakon 125. While details on the technical specifications are currently scarce, the brand has stated that the prototype will be homologated for the road and will have a maximum weight of 70 kg.

The concept features a number of off-road design elements such as an inverted fork, a centrally mounted adjustable rear shock, floating two-piston brake calipers, and 19-inch and 18-inch spoked wheels with Kenda off-road tires. The location of the motor and battery have not been revealed yet.

Malaguti’s goal with the XAM is to create a motorcycle “takes you to places you would never get with a combustion engine. Long suspension travel and low noise emissions are the key”.

The availability and price for the final production version are currently unknown, but the brand aims to offer a fun and affordable option for consumers. More information is expected to be released in the near future.
